And yeah, I’m sure some of you might’ve let him have it by now. But, really, not everybody unleashes the punches just because they’re being teased. So while Batey’s been decidedly mean and dickish to Al, he hasn’t really done anything that could actually harm a person that otherwise has a pretty awesome life going on.
With the current storyline I’m trying to dive deeper into my characters, give them a background, more depth. And as we see the sort of life that Al has, I hope to shed a bit of light on why a guy like him doesn’t really need to punch Batey in the face just because he’s being made fun of. Sure enough, I’m playing around with the characters a bit, creating conflicts and situations that I can toy around with as an aspiring writer. But rest assured that Al, just like everybody else, has a breaking point. It’s just that his breaking point is not being teased about his RPG character or anything related to that.
What is Al’s breaking point then, you might ask? Oh, well, we’ll be getting into that later.
Good hunting;
O

tiny ninja spotted
I am very excited about this development. I’ve always wanted to see more behind Al.
O’s sleeve in the first panel looks a lot like a skull, missing the jaw mandible. Looking forward to the new developments!
Al’s cool. I guess I can relate. If you’re succesful in life, you can put up with a lot of crap in your roleplaying sessions.
For a whole campaign, I played the comic sidekick. I did complain once in a while, but nothing compared to the rest of the group, compared to which I was horridly underpowered.
It had its charms though. I could get away with being silly, as long as I was careful not to do anything overtly dangerous.
And my characters saving grace was that one battle where I managed to disintegrate a greater daemon. Once you’ve done that, respect from the rest of the group comes naturally, even if it was just a fluke of the resistance/saves dice.
Friendship is bacon?
There is a guy in my gaming group we treat like Al. I think guys just act that way, we pick on each other. When there is a new guy he typically is the butt of the jokes. Needless to say, when he did complain about some of the jokes (such as how often we’d lay your mom jokes on him) we backed off. A bit. That being said, I consider the kid a good friend just like I’d assume O would with Al.
So what is worse, punch in the face or sic the dog on him? I guess that depends on the dog.
Its about time that the inner Al was unleashed. I have read the storyline through again just recently and for all Als’ patience and his comfort in his own skin, I do wish that he would just let rip and let the others know that he isnt a door mat.
I actually like that he hasn’t punched him or anything. Shows he’s better than Batey, hehe.
What happened to yesterday’s comic…? it disappeared!
Actually, I can’t see any comic. Not today’s, not yesterday’s, not any!!!
Boo, can’t comment newer comics because of some java script failure :/
