Most of you are probably thinking something along the lines of “cute, but stupid” or anything like that. Most of you are probably thinking that this would never happen to you.
And it’s true, while composed by the same guy, and somewhat similar because of that, both songs are decidedly different… or are they?
Now, I don’t know much about the technical aspects of music. But I do at least know that at their most important parts, these songs are actually quite similar. They start different, sure enough. But when they reach that part for which we all recognize them, they’re actually very similar. And yes, similar enough that you can get them confused.
Don’t believe me?
Well, I’m sure that if you fire up YouTube right now and ask a friend to play them for you (so you can’t see the song’s name, of course), you’ll be able to tell them apart. Even if you just skip to the “important” part of the song. But try humming them, in your head.
Yeah, that’s right, just mentally hum that important part. Don’t build up the entire song until you get to it, don’t go listen to the song and just hum. On que, out of nothing, right to the part, mentally hum it.
Now you tell me, are they not similar?
Good hunting;
O
NOTE: And yes, if I’m defending Sparrow this much, it’s because I was tried to hum the tune in the shower, and panicked when for a moment there, I couldn’t tell them apart. Now I hum them everyday, just to make sure.

9/10 for trying, I’d still rate her as “cute but dense” though.
I would have ruined the moment trying to explain instead of enjoying the moment. I’m dumb like that.
There’s a challenge that you do,
Start by humming the Superman theme tune, as much of it as you want to. Then move onto Star Wars, Then onto the Indianna Jones theme finishing off on the A-Team.
If you can do them all perfect then you’re a better man than me. Most people will end up forgetting on or getting totally confused.
Might win you a few bar bets if you can master it.
I’d like to test something here, regarding an argument I had with a friend a while back:
Which is more famous/recognizeable: The tune from the Superman movie, or the tune from the Lois&Clark TV show?
More to the point, I spent the couple of few years listening to Williams’ soundtracks while working on HW assignments. Yet I failed Stephen’s challenge (fluncked the Indiana Jones part, jumped right to A team). I am very ashamed of myself.
Does Sparrow always have a tiny ninja protecting her bookcase?
For more fun, add it the theme from Spaceballs
I should clarify, I mean the opening credits theme:

1: ninja spotted (easily)
2: her laptop is a … banana?
DoubleJay that is exactly what I thought!
You should make those Ninja laptop decals. I would buy one.
