2- I know I’ve said before that I used to have long hair, but that was in college. In high school I had a buzz cut and sideburns. Yeah… I know.
3- The other 2 guys in the first panel are just buddies from back in high school. I eventually lost touch with all of them, except Batey. Life, you know how it goes.

2) It was every night I went out.
What you’re doing in the last panel is a “drink” here… not an official one, but something students do sometimes. It’s called Getafix’s Cauldron, and it’s everything with alcohol mixed together.
Some guys woke up in a forest once (they were there before drinking though), no one remembered what happened last night… but they had a moat now. Nobody knew who made it, and it wasn’t there the day before.
Somehow I like to believe that the “new” guy on the first panel died that night…

On other hand, same happened to me, one night with my Bro we were going out on this kinda blind date, so I was expecting a dissapointment. Told my Bro “you are going to carry me like a potato sack back home”.
I am a man of my word, although it turned out that the chicks were hot, oh well… a night to remember, ever since that hangover, I do not drink more than I can phisically can.

Yeah, Scruffy Cat is just me playing with a cheap wine that’s available here called “Gato Negro”. I’ve tried it, and while I’m no wine taster, it doesn’t taste bad at all.
Firewater is Aguardiente, which tastes a lot like licorice. I hate it.
Like I’ve said, I don’t drink. But I occasionally take sips of stuff, just to know what they taste like. I’ve been told that most of it tastes horrible precisely because a sip of it just isn’t enough to “acquire the taste” or whatever.

Haven’t we all made this mistake?
I obviously can’t remember the exact details, but WHAT I remember is the fact that our druidic mixture of different alcohols resulted in a thick oily consistency – some was left over.
Not a good idea to mix egg liqueur, vodka, whiskey, fruit schnaps and some other bottles together.
That stuff was so sticky that even the guys that needed/wanted to puke couldn’t do it effectively.
Yeah, good times.
Never did this mistake… Yet. but from my earlier experiences i know that:
1. You dont drink 0,7 Skittles Vodka in one go even tho it tastes good.
2. Dont mix wine with champagne.
3. Dont drink on empty stomach, it ends badly.
4. ALWAYS have pickled stuff near (gurkhies, onions and mushrooms)
these guidlines saved my ass thrice (one guide is one party)

Because I’ve heard this tale before, I’m reading this like I “watch” horror movies: with my hands over my eyes, peeking through my fingers… waiting for the gruesome stuff to happen.

Ok, I’m a bit late to comment here, but I consider myself immensly lucky to never ever had hangover despite some weird mixes I drunk and ate on a few occasions (at most I had slight muscle pain as from a workout or a feeling of cold). Those occasions were mostly great conferences (if any of you is a university student – don’t miss out on student conferences). On one conference, I was a regular attendant of, there was a tradition of so called National Party, where everone brought traditional dishes and drinks from their countries. This ment one usualy drank some wines, vodkas, liquors, beers and sometimes more exotic concoctions (like rakia – this stuff is rough), while eating chicken pies, candied fruit, pickled onions or smoked meat. I might not have experianced too many bad effects of alcohol, but I’ve seen my share.
Also: I don’t believe in “aquired taste” – if it doesn’t taste good on the first try, then why would you ever try to get used to it?
Also also: some drink ideas
1. If you like to drink a cold beer after a really hot and exhausting day, you might try squeezing half of a lemon into it. As weird as it sound, it does help.
2. So called Mad Dog: pour vodka into a shot glass, but leave some space. Get one of those thick fruit syrups (raspberry is good) pour some of that UNDER the vodka (if you do it gently, they won’t mix). The recipe calls for a few drops of tabasco souce, but it’s entirely optional in my opinion. The main idea is, the syrup will be gulped after the vodka and ease the typical burn.
