To Ariel on his birthday

by O on August 20th, 2010

Don’t you just hate it when people have bad taste in cake? I mean, what is easier than buying a nice cake? Sure, they’re not cheap sometimes. But still, if you can’t afford good cake then go for something else entirely.  The worst is when you go to some kid’s birthday party and they’ve decided to do “something different”, so instead of the classic chocolate cake they go with some fruity experimental crap. For the record, bundt cake is not an appropriate birthday cake.

Look, it’s called “chocolate cake” for a reason. Everybody likes chocolate. The thing’s even got like… y’know… chemicals and stuff that make you happy. And they’re natural! They don’t even have to add that stuff! Why would anybody abandon the cake that can even make you chemically happy to go experiment with some spongy gourmet crap?

I’m not saying that chocolate cake is the only good cake, but if you’re gonna go with an “alternative” cake, you better make damn sure it tastes just as good and makes me just as happy. Because when people have bad taste in cake, then you can feel free to let them know. You’ll be doing them a favor.

Oh, and happy birthday Ariel. I’m sure your cake will be delicious.

CHEESECAST! A podcast with cheese.

by O on August 19th, 2010
Posted In: News, Stuff

So me and Dern made this podcast, the official Hello with Cheese podcast. The CHEESECAST!

In this, our first, uhm… cast, we talk about height, a lot of Star Wars, I give Yoda a verbal beating and we basically just geek out for a while. I gotta give “mad props” to Dern for editing the whole conversation into something that you can actually listen to.

I suppose we’ll feed it into iTunes and all that crap later on, but for now you can listen to it here:

Down with glitter – SUCK BLOOD!

by O on August 16th, 2010
Posted In: Stuff

Yesterday as I was drawing the comic for Hello with Cheese I read about how one of my favorite film directors, Guillermo del Toro, intends to save vampires from what they have become with a new trilogy of books called “The Strain”. It’s co-authored and written by Chuck Hogan (of whom I know absolutely nothing) and it’s read (if you’re looking for the audiobook, like I am) by none other than Ron Perlman.

Personally, I’m sick and tired of glittery, androgynous, emo vampires ruining what was once a bad-ass creature of the night. If you wanted to write a story about an immortal ideal boyfriend you could’ve just made up another fantasy creature – I mean – it’s not like there’s a law against being creative. If you didn’t want your character to be an undead monster that thirsts for your blood than maybe you didn’t really want to write about vampires in the first place. End of story.

So if like me, all you want is for vampires to be restored to their former glory, then join me! BAN GLITTER NOW! Oh, and check out the book, let me know if it’s any good.
