Join the Commissioned Ninja Clan
What’s the CNC? Simply put, it’s the deluxe membership level for the site.
What does membership get you?
-Dollar per dollar store credit
-Larger, high-resolution copies of the comic
-A digital desktop/background image every month
-Sketches and behind the scenes notes for the comic
-The Secret Commission Cast
-Video features of Obsidian working on the comic
-Invitations to all COMMISSIONED parties
-Access to the Black Market
What is all that?
-Dollar per dollar store credit
For every dollar you pay in membership fees, you get that many dollars back in store credit (valid only in the COMMISSIONED store of SwagShark.com and the Black Market store). So a one-month membership costs you $4(US), and it becomes $4(US) of store credit (please allow up to 30 days for store credit codes to be processed).
-Larger, high-resolution copies of the comic:
Comics are normally saved at 760 pixels wide. The CNC will also be able to see the art at 900 pixels wide.
-A digital desktop/background image every month:
Each month will have a new image, generally themed to the month and available for download.
-Sketches and behind the scenes notes for the comic:
Pencils-level looks at the art, as well as the occassional tidbit that O might have left out of his normal rants (Please note: this is not guaranteed for every comic).
-The Secret Commission Cast:
About once a week, Obsidian will sit down and answer some questions about the COMMISSIONED universe, from characters to plot points. Also, there will be updates on all things COMMISSIONED.
-Video features of Obsidian working on the comic:
About once every two weeks, Obsidian will record video of him creating the comic or doing a drawing tutorial.
-Invitations to all COMMISSIONED parties:
Fan appreciation parties will be held as often as we’re able to get Obsidian to a convention. The first official COMMISSIONED party will be held in San Diego on either the 21st or 22nd of July. Note: That’s the Thursday and Friday of San Diego Comic-Con 2011.
There are other parties currently in the planning for 2011, though they will probably be in the USA. We are actively looking for a place to hold a COMMISSIONED party in Europe in either 2012 or 2013.
-Access to the Black Market:
The Black Market is a Limited Edition storefront for all things COMMISSIONED, including LE shirt colors and designs, artist-edition comics, original paintings, and for the first time ever – the original art from COMMISSIONED.

Ps. growing a mustache
I’m confused, I really shouldn’t have shot myself. I’ve signed up via paypal, followed the join ninja clan link and registered and account name etc but when I click anything in the dojo I’m brought straight back here to the sign up option. what am I failing to do?
Is there no way of actually registering without a paypal account?
I tried that, to choose without.. but it just tells me that “You must register to paypal”.
I frackin’ hate paypal..
I still can’t get to the Dojo. How many times do I need to cancel and resubmit my membership for it to work.
Same Problem as Jeff I canceled my account and reset it up but its still taking me to the signup page. I did click remember me. And cookies are being accepted for this sight. I even rest my cookies to see if that helped. Is the problem possibly that I’m using Firefox?
I think its kind of… odd… I dunno who’s idea it was to create a wall between the people who enjoy reading but don’t pay to just be able to see the comic in better resolution, or to buy nicer things.. :S
So we have to pay money to, not only to SEE the things, but also to actually buy things we like? People who are not a member of the CNC are just banned of buying awesome stuff just because we don’t pay to see them first?
Sorry but that’s just weird in my idea.. just giving something a nice name doesn’t mean we should pay to be a member. Weird… just, weird..
It’s just simple business economics, really.
Dern is an awesome manager and has seen the demand for something like the CNC.
The great name helps, but the main point of this is to make some money off of Commissioned (I hope we agree that O deserves that). Consequently, O will be able to come to several conventions in 2011 and 2012, as far as I know.
If my contribution makes it possible for O to come to Europe and for me to get some cool exclusive stuff, I’m more than willing to pay some bucks for it. (And believe me! I have no big sack of money, either)
You say you want to buy the stuff only members can buy? Go ahead and get your membership to get the whole membership fee as store credit. And the limited prints are available for non-menbers as well. They’re just even more limited!
In the end you have to decide whether the exclusive contents are enough to make you want to be a Ninja or not, but please don’t be bitter and hate on O or Dern!
Sincerely, Agent K (CNC member, but Not an official spokesperson)
@Calaelan sorry I missed this comment, I should have replied sooner.
There’s some options that are available to the CNC that have to be done only in a limited fashion. Seeing the art at a higher resolution, for example. If we had every abnormal look at the art in high resolution, it would murder our server.
On getting to buy nice things – I will do my best to publicly preview the most awesome items we have available. Currently, the Black Market offers the LE Ninjas vs. Pirates prints, which we did preview.
And this also doesn’t mean we’ll be cutting back on merchandise for all the abnormals. Last week, we started taking preorders for the 50 Foot Bald Man posters, and this week SHOULD be when we start taking preorders on a new Commissioned shirt.
With the CNC, we want to do things differently than your average exclusive membership. For example, every dollar spent on membership becomes store credit. So if you plan on buying a shirt and a book this year, you’ll be getting your $40 of value right there.
Also, if you’re not sure you’ll like the CNC, every paypal membership comes with a free two day trial.
sounds fair to me. one question, now that my paypal should be qorking again:
Dern, you said “So if you plan on buying a shirt and a book this year, you’ll be getting your $40 of value right there.” – will the store credit expire after one year? – ’cause some of us greedy, old-fashioned europeans might want to stack up two years of store credit in order to save shipping on one 80$-order (yeah, I would like to finally get lots of commissioned stuff and support commissioned.). so, please, no expiring?
I’m having trouble with my account too. I have cookies enabled and checked the “remeber me” field. What’s happenning? How do I cancel my account?
At first I was sceptic, but now I decided at last to give it a shot for one month…I was very happy to see PayPal in use, because in Germany credit cards are not as wide-spread as in the US (or maybe the rest of Europe – I have no idea how our British, French and all the other friends handle this)…and then I see that I have to pay via PayPal WITH a credit card.
…sorry, WHAT? Why? Why would you choose PayPal and then block all options but Credit card? :/
Dern was very nice to provide us with a different method of using PayPal for that.
I had the very same problem. Being in Germany and all. ^^
Just shoot him an eMail and he will set you up with a manual payment-thingy via PayPal.
Worked for me!
Don’t let that keep you from joining us!
Cool, thanks
So what was the fix to get into the site, I paid but can’t get in either
No Access, and no Answer from O or Dern on my mail, even though I have paid on wednesday…
@Sven; Sorry about that. I’ll get right on it.
Hmm…have an annual, can get to the Dojo, but the Black Market link brings me to the Join page…any suggestions?
I don’t have a normal credit card, I only use visa/mastercard gift cards that I buy in stores. I use them a lot, so I ran out of space on Paypal a long time ago, and they refuse to let me add any more cards until I give them my bank information, which I refuse to do. I have 40 dollars on my Vanilla Visa gift card, but I can’t use paypal and I don’t see any option to put in my credit card information on Swag Shark. How exactly am I supposed to pay?
I’m having the same problem as everyone else, paid but can’t actually do anything, it keeps re-directing me to the join page no matter what I click on in the dojo. I’ve tried emailing both of you and have so far not received an answer from either, so this is a last ditch effort, please help me, I’m starting to loose faith in you guys.
