Greetings Abnormals;

Today (although it may not look like it) is a sort of special and important day for us here, at SCALLYWAGS Int., because today marks the last comic colored by our intern Victoria.

See, in case you didn’t know, ever since last year we decided that if we wanted to be able to produce a high-quality comic and maintain the update rhythm, I would require somebody to assist me with coloring. And so we got ourselves an intern from the university where I teach. Our first one was L.J. Lockhart, and she worked with us during the first half of 2013, and since interns last one semester here in July we got our second intern, Victoria, and she coincided with the launch of the new comic format. Well, at least it was new back then.

63 pages later, Victoria’s internship is over and it’s time for her to go back to the university and finish her studies. I think she’s done a great job in bringing my drawings to life and I can only hope she enjoyed her experience here just as well. We wish her luck in all her endeavors and a great professional life once she graduates.

And so next week we’ll be greeting our new intern, so don’t be surprised if you notice a bit of a change in the visual aspect of the comic. I gave a lot of thought to how exactly I could merge the different colorist’s styles so that the comic would look uniform and consistent, but I eventually came to the conclusion that I shouldn’t even try. It’s not a good idea to force an artist to emulate another, and considering that I’ll still be drawing the thing and the colors themselves are from a palette that I manage, the change should be enough that you notice it, but not so much that you feel you’re reading a different comic. I think this is one of those cases where it’s best to not even try to hide the process by which the comic is made.

So yeah, Monday’s comic page will be colored by me, and starting Wednesday we’ll have a new colorist with us. ¬†Again, we’d like to thank Victoria for all the work she did with us, and look forward to what our new colorist will bring to our story.

Just letting you all know.

Good hunting;
O
