just read your ‘comment comic’ ( “feminine” May 30th, 2012 ) and I gotta say, as a guy who shares your opinion on women, loves your work, and follows you via RSS, That it isn’t jawline that let you down on this one. It’s that the neck doesn’t seem to line up quite as it should, and that the face details are a little off proportionally.
So how about a redraw for the evening sketch?
Looking forward to my copy of Scurvy Dogs, tho I dont think I’ll be getting this card in it (as I did not give enough for the limited edition cards, possibly.. need to check).
Either way, looks fine to me. I backed the game to play it, not to fap fap fap at the pretty pics…
Maybe it’s because I’m a chick? Dunno. But I’ve never really seen O’s drawn ladies as either “manly” or “feminine”. They’re just simply “women”. Women come in all shapes and sizes – they have different features and personalities and shapes and things that make them wonderful and beautiful and sexxy and interesting. His women are beautiful and *real* in a way that I find really appealing.
There is nothing about this particular “Scurvy Dogs” artwork that I find “manly” (and what exactly does that mean? has a beard? a penis growing out of her forehead? I have a square jaw, myself, but no one has ever accused me of looking manly; if you had to define “manly”, what would you say?) – especially since she’s basically naked, and giving a come-hither look. If you’re a dude and she doesn’t ring your bell, well, then that’s just tragic; not all chicks are supposed to, and that’s ok. Not all pin-up art is going to fire off everyone’s hormones. Not all representations of beauty are supposed to tickle the same male hind-brain. And thank god! This would be a *totally* boring place if that were the case.
So… Yeah. Just because when it comes to choosing partners I choose men, that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a great picture of a hot chick – and I think she’s hot. Just the same way I find 40′s style pin up girls hot. They’re different art styles, sure – but both completely valid, wonderful art styles.
@yellowness :
There is a word for what i intended to mention with my comment : androgyne.
Jamie Lee Curtis has a “manly” face for a woman, David Bowie has a “feminine” face for a man. No intention to take away the gender from both. And attractiveness is not solely a thing of physical appearance. My partner in crime never had a good figure but i love her and that’s all it needs.
face looks a LITTLE manly..
@Sera: Yeah, it happens.
David-Bowie-manly.
HAHA
yes as been pointed out you O cant draw a femine face in this style please stop
…why is she so evil O? Evil…evil…evil… o.o;;

@K: Nope. Don’t take this the wrong way, but I like her as she is, and I can’t be redrawing every single image that gets criticized.
An image is finished, we move on to the next!

I dunno about the ‘manly’ part but with sharp features and that expression they kind of run together.

Maybe the slightly manly smile is intentional. It’s a “trap” card
?
