I realize today’s joke has sort of been done – I checked. In truth, I just found out yesterday that the saying “put a ring on it” was in reference to the song Single Ladies by BeyoncĂ©. I just thought that was something people said about men needing to learn to commit. I learned about the song (and heard it) for the first time yesterday and so I found out that people have been making jokes relating it to The Lord of the Rings for quite some time now.
Still, I eventually came to the conclusion that my joke was different enough that I didn’t need to worry about it having been done before. And so, I give you today’s comic. I believe that things in Middle Earth might have gone a lot different if Sauron had just put that ring on the correct finger, instead of his index.
Now imagine what it would be like if he had put the ring on his Pinky. We’d all be pimpin’ them orcs hoes, yaknowhadimsayin?
Good hunting;
O
NOTE : I got the poses for the characters from looking at photos of women showing their engagement rings to their friends. Looking at plenty of them I noticed something: there’s always one bitchy friend that doesn’t seem quite as happy as the rest. Look it up, it’s actually quite amusing.
NOTE 2: If you ask me, the fact that I did not know about this song up until yesterday says a lot about my musical tastes. I am proud.
NOTE 3: I wanted to try something a little different with today’s comic, even though it’s not Artsy-Fartsy Friday. It didn’t quite work out the way I hoped it would, but then again I guess it’s all just a part of experimenting, isn’t it?

I think it turned out pretty great. The glass on the right side (of the picture) looks kinda strange, but overall I really like the style. The joke made me lough, too – and I’ve never seen it done before, although I know the song.
That being said… I think this comic would’ve been better of as a “Artsy-Fartsy Friday Comic”. I think the “Artsy-Fartsy Fridays” are an interesting idea and so far it was quite good, but given the choice, I’d rather keep the artsy-fartsy images on fridays and enjoy “regular” comics the rest of the week. Not that I have anything against experimenting with the art-style… no, absolutely not – but I like the quirky stories about your everyday life too much
@Butterfly: Yeah, don’t worry about Artsy-Fartsy Fridays invading the rest of the week. Not only do I not want it to happen, but I am physically incapable of making it happen.
What happened today was that I had two jokes in mind, and the one that involved me and my friends just wasn’t polished enough to be made into a comic. So I went with this one and half way through decided to go with this style of shading.
Yup, that’s what happened.
That’s a really terrible pun O… How come I can’t stop laughing?! You are a genius!
Hey O!
You saw that WoTC are attempting a remake of D&D? There’s a new edition on the horizon planned for 2013.
What do you think?
I’m glad to know that this comic is not made by an artist with faulty musical tastes.
“…Cannot be defeated by any man”, indeed.
Beyahoo?
I really appreciate that you’re one of the few webcomic artists I can count on to stick to your update schedule, and I love that. I just wanted to day thanks, and offer some positive feedback. You’re awesome.
The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw today’s comic was the line “He went to Jared!”
If I might inqure, dear Sir, what appears to be thy taste into the musical arts? I would belive that a fine Gentleman as yourself would enjoy the finer aspects of hard rock and heavy? Or have I unfortunately been misled by my own taste?
(NB, English is not my primary language, so please don’t mind any grandma spillings
)
Hehe. Nice one.
