I figure the way the diagram flows could be made a whole lot clearer, but working on that is not as fun as drawing all the little ninja so I guess I’m gonna leave it as it is. Today’s comic is the one I referenced in last Friday’s comic, and it’s part of a much larger diagram about Ninja schools that would also cover groups, other masters and even international ninja schools.
Of course, this would all be a bit too large, so I decided to go with the most basic of the Ninja school situations which was the rivalry between two prodigies. If you all like it enough, I could go ahead and add the other parts to it, I guess. If I do that, I guess I could also work a bit more on the diagram flow.
In any case, the diagram doesn’t just work for Ninja schools but it pretty much works for all martial arts schools.

So, what have we got for this week?
Last week I had planned to get better from my cold and get back to work, but things didn’t quite work out the way I planned and as a result I’m still plagued with a nasty cough. This means that I’ve got a lot of catching up to do this week. The Daily Ninja (from the Ninja Clan subscriber section) are way behind, so I’ll try to do at least 2 a day until I catch up again. There’s also desktop wallpapers that need to be made, more specifically the PANCHO CHILANGO WALLPAPER. And of course, I still have one pending piece of commissioned artwork that needs to be finished, an image of 2 dragons fighting each other on a bridge.
It might be ambitious, but I plan to do all of the above during this week – and I’ll try to make live video broadcasts of as much of it as I can.

Sweet, just got though your archives (holy crap), only thing I’d love to see is image tags.
Sins that would take prohibitively long, I’d say give readers the ability to add tags to your old comics.

You forgot to mention that if the girl is still alive she gets kidnapped, chained in the evil ninja’d chambers and then in the end she and the good ninja get together.

Awesome comic! The sad thing though is, once you have secret knowledge like this, 90% of all movies out there become boring. As a kid, when I was oblivious to storytelling schematas like these, I could enjoy movies that, today, you couldn’t even pay me to watch. Ah, blessed are the ignorant!
That actually also fits on the pattern of most martial arts movies that involve masters that teach more than one people.
Also there should be on the female ninja gets killed part an option for her getting kidnapped /poisoned /her ass kicked by random thugs although she’s been training her entire life and could gut a pro martial artists with table spoon and the gentle ninja has to rescue /get antidote for her.

Small Flaw here O- most people read left the right. You said “And the other students are pretty much irrelevant” on the leftmost panel. The leftmost panel is usually the first one people read. Using “And the other students are pretty much irrelevant” as the first panel people read doesn’t really make sense.
Otherwise, it’s funny. It’s especially funny because the vast majority of Martial Arts teach you to maim or kill the enemy as a first resort…arts such as Aikido, which teach you to show mercy and compassion to the people who are trying to rape or murder you, are an exception. But in Hollywood, all Kung Fu has the philosophy of Aikido.

We are figuring out how to turn this into a poster. There’s a couple plans, but it’s going to happen.
I agree there is always a need for more ninjas…. ohhh how about one on the “super secret completely unknown” female ninja school – with its one token male student because he got kicked out of the regular ninja school for being a slacker and thought the all-female school would be easier. Since he does have the misguided idea that girls are weaker the boys. – Although you would have to draw lots of dismembered body parts as the female ninja keep beating him. Ohhh another idea how female ninjas take out sexist jerks. That would rock.

@Luke yeah, I just noticed this and I’m fuming over it. That’s a lot of traffic being slammed against the server, and we’re getting absolutely no benefit from it.
