Doesn’t it feel sometimes like you get up in the morning and you might as well have been working in your sleep? It’s like you’re hung-over, but from working. You’re worked-over. Yeah, welcome home, new week.
Mildly intrusive question – Over the last few comics, I’ve seen a couple of people refer to a tattoo you have on your hand, and questioning you as to why you don’t include it in the comic.
I’m horribly nosey, so I’ll just ask – is there a pic somewhere on the site of said tattoo, so I can satisfy the curiosity? Or is this a “only in person” thing, which I can respect?
i dont get work hangover on the morning… but doesn’t it happen to you that when you go to bed and are trying to fall asleep you get the most awesome ideas? you can then try to forget about it and fall asleep but the idea just gets better and more complex… or you can go grab a notebook to write/draw it down and just then, you loose it.
This is the perfect description for me today! P Just finished our last con of the summer. I slept a little over 12 hours straight and now I’m just waiting for some caffeine to kick in.
I’m a software engineer. Every once in a while, usually when we’ve been really slammed and nearing a code-push, I’ll have a night or two where I spend the whole damn thing coding in my dreams (don’t remember any of it, of course, and it probably wouldn’t compile anyway).
I wake up feeling like I just worked a full shift. There’s NOTHING more irritating that waking up sleep-deprived because you spent all night trying to locate an missing imaginary semicolon.
Also, O – those are some fabulous tatts! That’s actually the first time I’ve seen a pic of you, and you’re much more bad-ass looking than you make yourself out to be in your comics.
I hardly dream of my wife or family, but I usually dream about my job every night. The dream is either about my boss and myself having a discussion, but most likely is about having to pack to catch the next flight for my trip to a new office. It has become so common I no longer feel estranged about it.
Came into work yesterday at 6:30am yesterday, went home at 10pm, watched dr who, slept, back into work at 6:30am this morning, probably won’t leave before 10pm, followed up by (you guessed it) a meeting at 6:30 am tomorrow. I love deadlines.
Man, was I hungover from work on Monday. Previous week I worked at a music festival, worked out I clocked up 115 hours of work – on about four hours a night. Still working that ‘hangover’ off.
Yes, then I overslept even though I have more work and a deadline.
And still people think being an artist is barely work at all.

That’s what we call being a workaholic …

In the past 3 weeks I’ve had 2 days off. I’ve been working a lot of 10-12 hour shifts to boot.
