If you like the universe, I’d suggest you give a try to role-playing games based on it. They can be pretty cool.
Nope, I’m not a trekkie either. Just a random roleplayer.
You cant watch any of the trek movies and fully enojoy it without having watch the series.
Specially the warth of khan, it just would be fell like a movie without plot introductions …
That movie sucked donkies dude. 0-0
I mean, ok, it was watchable and some bits were alright but most of it was flashing lights and lacked the ‘Sci-Fi’ tale aspect of the entire Star Trek anthology/series. It would be like playing DnD just for the fight scenes and skipping any kind of story aspect. You might as well be playing Diablo as watch the new Star Trek movie.
…oh and I still can’t believe they actually did an alt-universe and blew up sodding Vulcan. >(
Uh Ollie, you do read the adventures of dwarf elf and weretiger yes? you just summed up their roleplaying style.
O, I’ll put it this way: any writer could have made a more believable storyline than the crapfest that was the new Trek movie. I can forgive the reboot that didn’t need to be. I can forgive the Russian kid playing Chekov whose actual accent was deemed ‘not Russian enough by that moron Abrams, so he had to go songwriter over the top you can see your house from it.
But I can’t forgive the plot holes. Romulan bad guy wanders around for two decades apparently waiting for Kirk to grow up. Kirk just ‘happens’ to be marooned on the same planet Spock is stuck on. A barely trained cadet is placed in command of the federation flagship… Not only are these unbelievable, they’re fvcking STUPID.
I hope JJ Abrams is raped by a platypus before he can ever write another Trek film– and I’m not even a Trekkie. I’m a Star Wars geek. His work was so bad I crossed the genre to complain about it!
“go songwriter” should be “go so far over”. Damn iPod autocorrect. Grrrr.
